About Us

Department of Accounting

The Department of Accounting, Tamkang University has been dedicated to developing talent with professional expertise and integrity in the accounting industry. Our alumni have performed superbly in the industry, academia and public sector, and have inspired current students to emulation.

The department provides a diversified and practical curriculum that incorporates the internationalization, information-oriented, and future-oriented education, as a way to reassess the present curriculum structure and integrate the latest digital technology and international Accounting certifications. Instead of using the traditional exam-oriented pedagogy, teachers adopt motivational pedagogies that help to inspire active learners. The department is well equipped with educational resources and highly professional and responsible teachers, and makes every effort to develop students to be qualified talent in the accounting industry or be able to pursue advanced degrees. We strengthen students’ analytical and practical abilities via a well-thought-out curriculum design and diversified learning and assessment in theories and practice.

The Dept. of Accounting has a positive learning climate and a sound coaching system that enables students to pass professional certification exams. As the department’s curriculum has been recognized by many international accounting associations, our students enjoy an advantage of obtaining international accounting certifications. We also try to promote dual degree programs and other study programs, and have implemented reward policies to attain the goal of internationalization. The department seeks to help students find intern jobs at large accounting firms and creates the Accounting Vocational Credit Program, in hope to reach our goal: pursuing aa Accounting degree while getting a job.

It is our hope that the department is created to be the most internationally- and digital-oriented department of Accounting among universities in Taiwan. We also hope that graduates from our department are able to deal with digital businesses, have a global vista and perception for international trends, and participate in international mobility.

International Professional Development

The department has made a proactive attempt to deepen relationships with other international professional associations over the last years. Students gain international mobility in the preparation process, too.

Dual Degree Programs

Students are encouraged to take part in the Junior Study Abroad Program, or apply for the Exchange Student Program at sister universities or a dual degree program. We’ve sought cooperation with the University of Queensland, the Queensland University of Technology, University of Michigan-Flint, and the Jean Moulin University Lyon 3 in offering dual master’s degree programs,

Internship

The undergraduate students are offered lectures for accounting and auditing practices, as well as opportunities in the junior internship program and Accounting Credit Program. They are required to work as an intern at an accounting firm throughout the second semester of the senior year. A wide array of practical courses are also opened by the master’s program, which finds cooperation with the large accounting firms in Taiwan, so students can apply for semester-long internships before graduation.

Professional Certification Exams

The department sets up intensive coaching programs that are designed to help students pass CPA exams or other accounting certifications so as to meet the expectation of future employers. To encourage students to become a certified public bookkeeper, the department also runs a review course summer camp every year.

Scholarships and Grants

We have a vast array of scholarships and grants available to subsidize high achievers from low-income families. We also create reward and recognition policy in hope to encourage students to take English proficiency tests, attend a short-term overseas study program, and create a healthy learning environment and culture. The department also formulates a faculty rewards and recognition policy for academic publication or participation in conferences or seminars, in the hope of motivating both faculty and students to actively pursue academic activities.

Excellent Academic Performance in Research

The department publishes a high-prestige academic journal, which has been rated by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a TSSCI index journal, and is recognized as one of Taiwan’s top three accounting journals. We conduct WIN Semiconductors-Journal of Contemporary Accounting Master Thesis Award every year, so that the faculty and students alike may have a platform for academic exchanges, thereby improving their research skills.

Career Development

The Department of Accounting offers a comprehensive curriculum and cultivates students in their acquisition of knowledge and practical skills, so that these young learners have ample opportunities in the job market and find the right career path according to their professional competencies and passions.
