An US certified public accountant (US CPA) is a designation given by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to candidates that pass the Uniform CPA Examination and meet the education and experience requirements. US CPAs have a wide range of career options available, either in public or corporate accounting. Individuals with the US CPA designation can also work globally and move into executive positions such as controllers or chief financial officers. The CPA exam consists of four, four-hour sections: Auditing and Attestation, Business Environment and Concepts, Financial Accounting and Reporting and Regulation. Candidates must pass all four sections within 18 months, earning a minimum score of 75 on each part. The Department of Accounting has partnered with Becker Professional Education to assistant our students to pass the CPA exam.
